Show and Tell Saturday - Beautiful Summer Layouts!

As summer nears - and trust me as a middle school teacher, I know when it is close - I wanted to share with you a few beautiful summer layouts.

1.  The first is from Nancy over at Two Peas.  I love the beautiful torn edge, textures of the burlap, the newsprint flowers and cute little shiny pebbles that are a perfect contrast to the layout.

2.  The second is a layout from Prima's blog .  I loved the gauzy background for the photos, curls that mimic waves, continuation of photos, and the clusters of flowers and embellishments under the waves.

 3.  And finally, the last layout to share with you came from Nicole Nowosad.  She used beautiful strips of paper to create a colorful background and embellished with clouds and a really cute title!

Happy Sunny Day all!

Three Dimensional Embellishments

Hello all!  I wanted to share my most recent layout with you along with the 3-D embellishments that really  make the layout pop!  For Spring Break this year, we traveled to Islands of Adventure in Florida and visited Marvel Island.  I knew that I wanted this layout to jump out at you and have a comic book feel.  So I based the layout on the sketch from NAS and did some misting on the cardstock for my background.  As I started building the layout, I thought that it would be neat to pop some of the stars.  So I used my Cricut George cartridge and cut three stars.  Each star would be slightly smaller than the previous.  Then I began chalking.  The bottom layer had the most chalking with each following layer to be chalked a bit less giving the dimension I was looking for.  Then I layered them adding pop dots and VOILA.  They jumped right out at ya!  I thought that this would be great to try on banners, butterflies, etc.

Here is the sketch!

Here is my layout!
Here is a close up of those 3-D embellishments.

These really do add dimension to a layout!  Try them out!

Show and Tell Saturday

Lately, I have been noticing a "not so new" trend in scrapbooking.  Cameras have been popping up everywhere on layouts and cards.  So I thought that I would share some of my favorite camera inspiration for this week:

1.  First I saw this beautiful card on Pintrest.  Now I am not a card maker but if I was, I would want to be just like Danni!

2. I love the idea of making your own camera with wire!

3.  I absolutely love this digital kit from After Five Designs .
4.  Check out these camera embellishments from Sweetly Scrapped!
5.  These cute map rosettes would be perfect on any travel page!  They are from Jardin de Papier.
6.  I also found these cute journaling cards from Creativity Prompt.
Thanks for spending another Saturday with me!

NAS Sketch 212 - Love this layout!

I loved the way that this layout turned out.  It was based on NAS Sketch 212.  I tried to bring out the background surroundings which reminded me of Little Italy.  I pasted over a stencil and let dry and then highlighted the design with some inks. I also stamped some images onto transparencies and embellished with a few older rub-on butterflies and birds, buttons, and flowers.  I hope you like it!

Show and Tell Saturday - Frugal Scrapping!

Once upon a time my husband made a comment - "What do you think?  Maybe do you have like $400.00 in scrapbooking supplies in your room?"  And my response was - "Yes.  $400.00 is approximately what I have in supplies."  Little did he know it was closer to $4000 than it was $400.  Right?  Anyone who scraps knows that it can get REALLY pricey.  So with that, I thought that I would share a couple of my money saving tutorials with you.  These are tutorials that I have found online and have tried on my own.  They really do work!!!

1.  Repurpose your Cricut mat with a Zig glue pen! - Repurpose your mat

2.  Handmade Glue dots/pop dots. Here is my post.   I even like to do a little thin line for gluing ribbons!  You can get so many dots and ribbon strips from one bottle of this glue!  Handmade glue dots

3.  Make your own paint daubers - Repurpose Bingo daubers
4.  And lastly - my new fav - make your own alcohol inks! - Alcohol inks
