Show and Tell Saturday - Scraps

I love searching through all of the amazing blogs and sites looking for creative techniques to use on my layouts and altered projects.  So each Saturday, I thought that I might share some of my finds.  This week, I found some amazing ideas for using your scrapbooking paper scraps.  Check these out!

Tip Junkie shared a really cute idea to use your scraps and some wire to create these adorable twist ties for your altered projects and handmade gifts!

I found these amazing little "crackers" at Homespun with Heart that would be perfect for any holiday.  I can envision Easter crackers with carrot confetti.  Check these out!

I love to make banners and pennants.  They can be a focus of the layout or understated like in this sample from Glitter Girl.  What a great way to use your scraps.

I love how Wendy Sue from Two Peas used her strips of scraps (and you could use ribbon too) to layer and then cut a shape for a cute accent.  You could cut any shape.  Here is her Christmas layout!

I really love Jen's understated background using her paper scraps and negatives of her die cuts!  Way cute!

And last but not least, washi tape is all the rage.  So let's make our own.  Check out the Aesthetic Nest's tutorial for using your patterned paper scraps!

Hope you enjoyed our first installment of Show and Tell!

Nuts About Sketches DT layout

Here is my newest submission for the Nuts about Sketches DT.  If you haven't checked out Shawn's amazing sketches, you must make a trip to her site!

Here was the sketch!
And here was my interpretation.  I rotated the sketch a bit to fit a portrait picture.  I love the parallelogram shape (kite shape for non-math people - sorry the teacher coming out in me.)   It is unique and really adds to the layout!  Thanks for looking!

Wohooo!

Toot Toot!  I made layout of the week LOTW for this week at CUC for this layout!  It is a little brighter than my layouts usually are but I love the sunburst technique that Jan shared with us!  You must check it out!

My First Submission to NAS

If you haven't had a moment to check out NAS - Nuts About Sketches, then you are truly missing out.  Shawn posts a sketch a week, posts several amazing examples (if I do say so myself), and you get the opportunity to add your own layouts from her sketch as well!  Here is my first submission as a new DT member.  The sketch was a two pager and I thought that these pictures from Cleveland were perfect for the layout.  I went old school - using older paper and even trimming the silhouette of a photo!  I haven't done that in a while!  I also took the inspiration from the guitar and altered some bottle caps for knobs, cut out my journaling area to reflect the cutout on the guitar, adding twine strings and glittery arrows and used some "rock" stars to embellish!  Hope you like it!

Snapshots of January

Here is the first layout in my attempt to document my year and all the crazy, daily events that go along with it.  Our January was much warmer than normal with only one snow storm to speak of.  Most unusual.  What wasn't unusual was the fact that everyone including the dog, took advantage of it.  I documented our trip to Cleveland along with the amazing fireworks, hunting and the dog plowing through the snow, the "closeness" of the Wrestling Team - a bit too close, the weather and a yummy bowl of chicken noodle soup, and a beautiful sunrise in my back yard.
