F is for Frame

Ok so yes . . . I skipped E.  I have been stuck for a while on E and can't seem to decide what to alter for E so I skipped it and went on to F!  This is a frame that I made for my parent's anniversary.  The frame was a gift from my new Sister in law and Brother in law. 

I painted the frame, added tons of mists, accent paints, distress inks, etc.  Then I made some "metal flowers" using a tutorial from Miss Art's Papercrafting classes!  They were so easy to make!  They are made of foil duct work tape and cardstock (and lots of embossing and painting.)  They are very sturdy and I reinforced them with Glossy Accents.  I also used some dimensional paste to make some branches and a doily flower along with lots of other embellishments!

If you haven't check out Miss Art's Papercrafting website, it is a must!  For $15.00, each month, I learn TONS of basic and advanced scrapbooking techniques!  There is something for everyone and the video tutorials and examples are awesome!  Classes this month - so far include - classes on mists, journaling, and scrapbooking milestones with tons more to come!

CUC Blog Hop and D is for Doily Mini-book

Welcome to the Cookin' Up Creations "Put Some Spring in your Scrap" Blog Hop to follow with an amazing crop for NSD!

You should have started from the Cookin' Up Creations Blog.  Each of us has prepared a special spring project and we can't wait to show them to you on ou  blogs. And we are pleased that our CROP CHEF winner and May guest design team member, Nicole Brenna, is joining us. We hope our projects both delight and inspire you!

And here is the project that I want to share with you.  I created a D is for Doily Mini Book to continue with my alter the alphabet idea that I am slowly working on.  I knew that I wanted to create something lacy for my niece's new baby and decided to alter a flower shaped chipboard book with some doilies.  I first painted each edge with MM paint and covered each side with Paper Wishes paper.  Then I covered with doilies, K and Co flowers, butterflies and bling.  I used the theme of Butterfly Kisses - one of my favorite songs!!!  It always makes me cry!  Enjoy!

Letter C - Cookie Cutter Wreath

I decided to add a little spice to my kitchen for the holidays and designed this cookie cutter wreath for my DT spot at CUC!  I used a strong adhesive, glue dots, and some berries and ribbons to create this wreath and embellished the cookie cutters themselves with some photos to make it more personal.  Here is the link with the directions and video that inspired me!

Letter B - Altered Gift Box

For the letter B, I chose to alter a gift box that was really sturdy that my mom gave for Christmas two years ago.  I had just participated in a handmade flower swap at CUC - check out our link at the right - and needed something to store all of the flowers in so that they wouldn't get smushed.  So, I painted the edges of the box first.  Then I used Echo Park pp and even the packaging front page to embellish and cover the box.  The label cover on the front was also part of the packaging.  I covered the title of the paper with a flower and then added the "handmade" alpha stickers.  Love that paper line too!

A - Apothecary Jar

I decided to challenge myself since I am the self-prescribed AlteredDiva and decided to alter something for every letter of the alphabet.  So for the letter A, I chose to alter a pickle jar with some trims, flowers, jewels, chipboard, patterned paper scraps, and two candle holders - one flipped upside down and adhered to one right side up which was then adhered to the bottom of the pickle jar.  The top is a jeweled lid with a round bead that I painted brown.  It was perfect for holding all of my ric rac.  (Though it is almost overflowing!)  Shhhhh . . . don't tell anyone!  See ya soon for letter B!

I have decided that I needed to challenge myself a little with my altering and scrapbooking talents and so I decided to take each letter of the alphabet and alter or scrapbook something around that letter.  I have some ideas for the letter "A."  Be checking back this week for my surprise!!!
